Each metropolitan planning organization (MPO) and the COG is required to have a long-range transportation plan (LRTP). The plans must have a minimum 20-year planning horizon which acts as a guidance document for fiscally constrained transportation projects in the region. The Lowcountry Area Transportation Study (LATS) LRTP identifies current and future transportation needs and provides multi-modal strategies and projects to address these needs for the urban area MPO while the LCOG Rural Area LRTP will do the same specifically to the region outside of the metropolitan planning area.

The LATS and LCOG long-range transportation plan updates kicked off earlier this summer and will conclude in March 2022. There will be several opportunities for stakeholder input over the next several weeks including an online survey, stakeholder outreach sessions and a public workshop. More information will be shared as the dates and locations are identified.
