The LATS MPO Long Range Transportation Plan (LRTP) is a comprehensive transportation planning document for the urban areas of Beaufort and Jasper County. The LRTP defines the overarching goals for transportation in the region, establishes existing and future transportation needs of the region and allocates projected revenue to transportation programs and projects that address those needs.
Every Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO), as well as their rural counterparts, Councils of Governments (COGs), are required to have a long-range transportation plan (LRTP). The plans must have a minimum 20-year planning horizon which acts as a guidance document for fiscally constrained transportation projects in the region. The plan is updated every 5 years to reassess the needs of the area. The LATS boundary, as well as its rural counterpart known as LCOG, can be seen in the map to the right. |
