The I&R/A Specialists provide a one-station & Referral/ Assistance  approach to bringing together the services, resources and seniors of Beaufort, Colleton, Hampton and Jasper counties. A trained IR&A Specialist works with clients to confidentially assess a situation and make appropriate referrals. When necessary, IR&A staff can advocate on behalf of a client or community.    

The goal of the Information, Referral and Assistance Program (IR&A) is to help you maintain your independence by providing thorough and unbiased information about community-wide resources and helping you determine the right avenues to explore services available.

The Information and  Referral/  Assistance specialists assesses the needs of the inquirer, and evaluates appropriate resources, indicates organizations capable of meeting those needs,  and provides enough information about each organization to help inquirers make an informed choice.

They also assist inquirers for whom services are unavailable by locating alternative resources, when necessary, actively participating in linking the inquirer to needed services, and following up on referrals to ensure the service was provided. For many, this is the first step to making informed decisions about programs and services to fit their needs.
